STCU Meets with NASU

On Friday December 3, 2004 a meeting was held between representatives of the STCU and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The STCU was represented by Executive Director Andrew Hood, Senior Deputy Executive Director (Ukraine) Borys Atamanenko, Deputy Executive Director (Canada) Landis Henry and Administrative Assistant Tatiana Shcherbina while the NASU was represented by the Head Scientific Secretary, Academician Anatoliy Shpak and Mr. Bogdanov and Ms. M. Horohovatska. A number of different issues were discussed including cooperation between the STCU and NASU during the past year and next year. In particular, the possibility of beginning a new jointly financed scientific project competition was discussed. Both sides expressed their satisfaction with regards to their cooperation and their hopes for even closer cooperation in 2005.

The sides also discussed the upcoming STCU-NASU-NATO Conference planned for spring 2005. Academician Shpak informed the STCU that the NASU supports the given conference and has already appointed a few individuals to create an organizational committee and event concepts and programs.

At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to hold regular meetings where various issues regarding joint projects and events could be discussed.
