First STEP Seminar Held in Tbilisi

On Monday, February 21, 2005, in a joint program in Tbilisi, Georgia, supported by the STCU, the Georgian Research and Development Foundation (GRDF) and the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), held the first STEP seminar. The Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) is a means of bringing together the science & technology and business investment communities with the goal of strengthening economic development. GRDF arranged for the presentation of several R&D opportunities and the business representatives gave their reactions and discussed methods and approaches which would enable the groups to cooperate in the future.

The STCU's Tbilisi Regional Office Manager, Dr. Akaki Peikrishvili, assisted in arranging the event. The second seminar will take place in May, with the final event being planned for September 2005.
