STCU Holds IPR Workshop in Azerbaijan

On September 27 – 28, 2005, the STCU hosted a workshop in Baku, Azerbaijan, entitled “Intellectual Property Rights and Science: Building a Business on Your Ideas.” With over 70 participants from Georgia and Azerbaijan, the event was opened by Academician Arif Mekhtiev, Vice President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. Featured speakers were Mr. Judson Hightower, Associate General Counsel, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Mr. Mark Powell, Director, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and Mr. Victor Korsun, Consultant, Science Centers Partners Program, U.S. Department of State. Ms. Elvira Sharma, the STCU Project Event and Training Officer, was the Conference Coordinator for the Workshop.
