STCU Held the "From Science to Business" Workshop

On October 11-12, 2006, the STCU together with NATO Documentation and Information Center co-sponsored the commercialization workshop “From Science to Business”, held in Kyiv, attended by nearly 250 scientists from research institutes across Ukraine. The Workshop focused on commercialization of research and best practices to Ukrainian scientists, as well as offered a platform for exchanges between foreign speakers, companies, institutes and a large invited audience representing Ukrainian research

Also attending were officials from Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine , Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the European Commission’s Directorate for Research, the Delegation of the European Commission in Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Global Partnership Program, NATO, and represenatives of STCU Governing Parties and from the International Science & Technology Center in Moscow.

Key speakers from Canada, Europe, and the United States gave the presentations to scientists on IPR protection, technology transfer, commercialization of research results, and attracting commercial financing. A Technology Exhibition featured poster presentations of 35 innovative and ready-for-market technologies in five scientific areas: Aerospace; Biomedical Technology and Medical Instrumentation; New Materials and Nanotechnology; Nuclear Energy & Safety; Renewable Energy and Energy Conversation. The Workshop also featured small-group panel discussions in each of these five research areas.
