First Visit of STCU Executive Director to Moldova

At the beginning of March, Executive Director Andrew Hood traveled to Moldova for the first time since this country joined the STCU as a Beneficiary Party. Mr. Hood made courtesy calls on H.E. Mr. Wolfgang Lerke, Ambassador of the Republic of Germany to Moldova, H.E. Mr. Michael Kirby, Ambassador of the United States of America to Moldova, Mr. G. Duca, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. M. Platon, Presidential Advisor on Culutre, Education and Science, officials of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Paolo Berizzi, Head of Political and Economical section of the Delegation of the European Commission. With the first two STCU projects now funded in Moldova, and plans for a jointly financed STCU-Moldovan Targeted Initiatives. STCU has begun a full scope of activities in a country where the financial support offered for conversion to civilian research is very welcomed.
