STCU Showcase of Ukrainian Start-Ups at the Silicon Valley Open Doors Technology Investment Conference, 8-9 November

STCU participated in the Silicon Valley Open Doors (SVOD) 2007, in Palo Alto, CA, and sponsored 3 Ukrainian scientists-entrepreneurs at this annual investment conference. SVOD brings together innovators from the former Soviet Union countries with prominent Silicon Valley-based venture capital firms, leading technology and business media, and top US technology companies.
The STCU booth offered presentations, promotional materials, and business plan summaries of the 3 sponsored Ukrainian start-up companies: Agrobiotech, featuring ecologically-friendly plant growth regulators; Avante, featuring renewable energy systems; KhaI-Service, featuring unmanned aerial systems for precision agricultural planning and advanced software for electroencephalography processing.
More than 45 venture capitalists as well as angel investors attended the conference and evaluated presentations from 16 pre-selected high-tech companies. The SVOD 2007 program also featured seminars and panel discussions by industry experts in information technology, biotech, security, business services, the formation of high-tech ventures, IP protection, and raising venture capital. A special panel was dedicated to angel investor interest in the ex-Soviet countries. SVOD featured speakers from such companies and institutions as eBAY, HP, Microsoft, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford University.
