Meeting with the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan

On September 1st, 2014 Igor Lytvynov, Senior Deputy Executive Director (UA) met the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academic Akif Alizadeh.

The participants discussed the mutual cooperation between the STCU and ANAS which started in 2003 and the possible areas of targeted future cooperation for 2014/15. The sides agreed that their cooperation over the previous year was highly valuable for the development of Azerbaijan science and development of contacts between Azerbaijani and Western partners. Academic Alizadeh A. also highlighted the successes of Targeted Initiative program and emphasized the importance of joint cooperative effort by exploiting the experience accumulated by both sides.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation on the projects of mutual interests.

During his visit Mr. Lytvynov I. also met with Director of Oil and Gas Scientific Research Institute – Socar Mr. Fakhreddin Ismayilov in order to discuss two planned Partner Projects with the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute on NAN of Ukraine and V. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials of NAN of Ukraine.
Talks took place with CEO of AzerCosmos Mr. Rashad Nabiyev and Deputy Director of State Anti-Plague Station of Azerbaijan Mr. Shair Qurbanov on the possibility to have collaboration through STCU with Ukrainian and Azerbaijani scientists in R&D projects.
