The STCU Sponsors Workshop in Baku

STCU was a leading sponsor of the "Caspian Commercialization Workshop in the Oil and Gas Industry" held in Baku, Azerbaijan, March 15 - 17. Arranged by the Azerbaijani National Science Foundation and the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation, the seminar featured a series of speakers giving presentations focussing on technology commercialization and on the particular high-tech needs of the oil and gas industry. Besides attendees from the host country, the STCU supported the participation of scientists from Uzbekistan and Georgia. With over 50 scientists, science administrators and engineers in attendance, the event was held at the BP Centre in the historic district of Baku. The talks covered topics as varied as intellectual property rights, case studies and possible new technological approaches to old problems such as oil exploration. The CEO of CRDF, Mr. Charles Owens, gave the final presentation at the workshop and personally handed out certificates to those present.
