June 20-22, 2022 – The Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) joined forces to organize a seminar focusing on "Topical Issues of Conducting Non-State Expertise in the Field of Export Control in Ukraine." Held in Kyiv, this seminar served as a platform for experts from the UCCI to delve into the latest developments in Ukraine's export control system and receive intensive practical training on commodity identification using Ukrainian control lists.
Funded by the European Union through a Targeted Initiative, this seminar forms part of a broader effort to enhance awareness and effectiveness in member countries of the STCU regarding export control systems for dual-use items, related materials, equipment, and technologies. The provision of comprehensive training and educational programs is central to achieving this goal.
The seminar's main objective was to foster discussions on the recent changes within Ukraine's export control system while providing hands-on training in commodity identification using Ukrainian control lists. Attendees had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the latest updates in European export control legislation, dual-use control lists, and potentially controlled emerging technologies. Ukrainian experts from the Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, and the State Service for Export Control of Ukraine delivered lectures and led practical exercises during the event.
The collaboration between the STCU and the UCCI demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening export control expertise in Ukraine. By empowering professionals with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills, the seminar contributes to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of Ukraine's export control system, ultimately promoting international security and responsible trade practices.
The seminar's success in achieving its objectives was evident as participants left equipped with a deeper understanding of Ukraine's export control system, the recent legislative changes, and improved proficiency in commodity identification. The event serves as a testament to the ongoing efforts and dedication of the STCU, the UCCI, and the European Union in advancing export control practices within the region.
