XXI International Symposium “S&T and Innovation Forecasting: The State Program of Ukraine and World Experience” held in Kyiv, June 1-3, 2006

On June 1, 2006 STCU co-sponsored the XXI International Symposium “S&T and Innovation Forecasting: The State Program of Ukraine and World Experience”, held in Kyiv at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU). STCU also participated in a joint STCU-NASU Round Table on the Prospects of Developing National Basic Science. STCU Executive Director Andrew Hood briefed the Round Table participants on STCU activities and future plans, inviting the Ukrainian science leaders to actively participate in STCU development. STCU Deputy Executive Director (Canada) Landis Henry presented the STCU Targeted Initiatives Program, and STCU Senior Deputy Executive Director (Ukraine) Borys Atamanenko co-moderated the Round Table.

The Symposium discussed results of Ukraine’s S&T Forecasting Program and developed recommendations for further S&T and innovative development in Ukraine. The Symposium also discussed S&T forecasting and innovation trends in other countries.

The Symposium included representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, British Council in Ukraine, G.M. Dobrov Center for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies, and the Ukrainian Parliament.
